What the hell is a blog anyway?

For the past few weeks I've debated with myself. It has been an ongoing battle in my mind. Should I start a blog? What would I even blog about? Would it have to be just one thing? Who came up with the word blog and were they drunk?

It is 11:00 PM ET as I write this, and I am (cautiously) excited to admit that I have caved. There's too many thoughts running through my head on a daily basis to keep them to myself, and this is the year 2013. We are so beyond keeping things private and "too much information" -- if we really wanted to, I genuinely believe it would be possible to find out when our favorite celebrity last took a shit.

That was pretty crass. I should warn you, assuming (and hoping) that you'll continue reading, that will not be the last time I say something like that. I should also apologize in advance to my father, who would cringe at the fact that I just publicly said such a thing, and to my mother, who would be completely amused by it and trying to calm my father down at the same time. (If you are curious as to what would happen next, my father would come to me with questions, such as: "What would our relatives say? WWJD? What will the people of the internet think?" After these questions had all failed to get the desired reaction, he would then be forced to accept the fact that he had (most shamefully) raised a loud mouth for a daughter.)

Please note: Half of that last paragraph was an exaggeration.

Please also note: Half of it was definitely not. (Which half is which? You decide. Isn't blogging fun?!)

Anyway, I'm getting off track. Today is a new day. Today, I embark on an adventure. Today, I finally learned why they call it a 'blog', and today I begin writing one. I hope you'll follow along with me.
